THE COMIC CODE


Do all comic books have to be suitable for children? Some prosecutors and police departments in the U.S. seem to think so.
Over the years, authorities have arrested comic book store clerks forselling comics with adult themes. In the vast majority of the cases, the comics were sold not to kids, but to adults.
Is it okay for magazines (from NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC to PLAYBOY and beyond) to feature nudity, but wrong in comic books? Does it matter that some of the accused comics are by some of the most respected cartoonists in America?
