Storyboarding: Paper? Or Flash?

A couple of years ago, after witnessing a crudely drawn, cartoon Santa pooping down a chimney at the ASIFA Festival judging, I proclaimed that Flash was the Devil's Tool.

As readily available as a shotgun in the U.S. and featuring a handy tutorial that a monkey could manage, it is easily used for evil. However, Mike Overbeck's animation is only one example of what Flash can do when in the hands of amazing talent.

Certainly it has revamped hand-drawn animation, making it easier to draw frame to frame without having to ink and paint.

Good or bad, Flash now lends itself proudly beyond Animation to the creation of our Storyboards.
